Your tax dollars at work
April 29, 2008 |
Today, the United States House of Representatives was scheduled to meet at 12:30 p.m. for morning hour debate and at 2:00 p.m. for legislative business.
Under suspension of the rules (where legislation can be considered for a vote outside regular procedures unless there is an objection by any of the Members), the following resolutions are among the legislation to be considered:
H.Res. 578 - Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that there should be established a National Watermelon Month
and
H.Res. 892 - Expressing support for designation of March 11, 2008, as “National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day”
Above and beyond the fact that it seems a little late to be designating March 11th as anything at all, those of you who have been pining for an entire month to celebrate your favorite summertime gourd may now be granted your wish by your ever-vigilant federally elected representatives.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming, known loosely as Real Life.
