Say anything, huh?

It seems that there is something of an ideological battle going on within the GOP on Capitol Hill.

There's the big spenders versus the real conservatives.

As the Washington Post put it this morning, "Squeezed between a conservative clamor for spending cuts and the rising cost of hurricane relief, Republican congressional leaders will respond this week with a public relations offensive, but no substantive changes in budget policy."

See? The GOP isn't the part of small government. It's the party of PR!

For comedy (there's always comedy), there was conservative third-term Congressman Mike Pence, who lamented in a speech yesterday that "many Republicans see government increasingly as the cure for every social ill."

That's funny. According to conservative rhetoric, that makes "many Republicans" indistinguishable from Democrats. Go figure.
